Governor's Challenge Tournament 2016

This year the Governor's Challenge Tournament for the Bears took place Dec. 27-28. The first game was located at Wicomico High School and the second game was located at the Wicomico Civic Center. We were scheduled to play our first game against Potomac High School. However, their team did not attend. The day of the game, Indian Creek Academy stepped in to play. FINAL: OHS 60- ICA 31

In the second day of the tournament the Bears played at the Civic Center against North Caroline. During the 1st quarter the Bears traded baskets at the begin, but then hit 3 unanswered baskets to take the lead at the end of the 1st. (17-11) During the 2nd quarter the Bears stepped up their game defensively and limited NC to 2 baskets. Offensively, the Bears played hard and scored 20 points in the 2nd. Oakdale worked together and played tough, adding two dunks, 8 steals, 20 assists, 3 blocks, and out rebounding NC 43 to 26. It was the first time the Oakdale Bears had won their bracket at the Governor's Challenge. Sean Jodrie was named Most Outstanding Player (MOP) for our tournament bracket. FINAL: OHS 79- NC 38

OHS vs TJ

Tonight the Bears traveled to Gov. Thomas Johnson High School. TJ came out strong and took a 15-11 led in the 1st quarter. At half the Patriots led by 7, but in the 2nd led as many at 12. The Bears fought back in the 3rd and tied the game 46-46 at the end of the 3rd. Both teams traded baskets in the 4th until the end. TJ connected on free throws in the final seconds and put them up by 3. The Bears attempted a 3 for the tie but didn't connect.It was a poor field goal percentage evening for the Bears shooting 32% while TJ finished the game shooting 52%.  FINAL: TJ 62- OHS 59
The next game is schedule for December 27 at the Governors Challenge Tournament in Salisbury, MD.

OHS vs Brunswick

The Bears were out of town this evening visiting the Brunswick railroaders. Oakdale looked to improve their 3-0 record and got off to a hot start on the road against Brunswick. The Bears led 24-8 at the end of the first quarter. During the 2nd quarter the Bears and the Railroaders traded baskets and the Bears took a 43-26 halftime led. During the 3rd quarter the Bears exploded offensively and outscored the Railroaders 26-5 during that quarter. All Bears saw playing time this evening and the Bears ended the game with the FINAL SCORE: 85-43.
The next game is schedule for Tuesday Night at TJHS.

OHS VS SOUTH HAGERSTOWN

This evening the Bears played at home against South Hagerstown High School. The game began with both teams playing at a fast pace. The Bears took at 12-10 lead after the 1st quarter. Oakdale tightened up their defense in the 2nd quarter and took at 9 point lead at half. It was a see saw game in the 3rd quarter with both teams trading baskets. In the 4th quarter the Bears played better defense and were able to make 5 of 7 free throws to seal the victory. FINAL: OHS 57 - SH 46
The next game is scheduled for Friday night at Brunswick High School.

Oakdale vs Paint Branch

This evening the Bears were on the road and visited Paint Branch High School in Montgomery County. Paint Branch was a very quick and athletic team and the game was fast paced from the start. The Bears defense was outstanding and held Paint Branch to 6 points in the first quarter. It was a tough fought game throughout the 1st half as the Bears took a 12 point lead at half.  In the second half the game became even more physical, however the Bears hung tough and were able to control the tempo of the game. Also, the Bears added a strong free throw showing making 23 of 27 from the line.  A school record was set this evening for the most rebounds in a game. Sean Jodrie grabbed 26 rebounds for the game, helping the Bears seal the win with a FINAL SCORE of 63-47. The win improves the Bears record to 2-0 and the next game is schedule for Tuesday at home against South Hagerstown. GO BEARS!

Oakdale vs Middletown

Tonight was the season opener for the 2016-2017 OHS Boys Basketball Team. The team was home tonight, playing against Middletown High School. The stands were packed in the Oakdale Student Section. They were dressed in White Oakdalien Connolly Crazies T-shirts.

The game started with both teams playing very hard from the start. The Bears took 14-11 lead after the 1st quarter and were able to extend the lead to 10 points at half. The Bears fast pace offense and tenacious defense allowed the Bears to win the 3rd quarter 18-3. The Bears coasted in the 4th quarter and all Bears saw playing time. FINAL SCORE: OHS 74 - MIDDLETOWN 36.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) away at Paint Branch High School.
