OHS vs Potomac (MD State Final)

Tonight the Bears played in the MD State 2A Finals at the Comcast Center against Potomac High School. The Bears struggled shooting tonight from the floor. They shot under 30% for the game. Even with the poor shooting percentage the Bears battled all game long and were able to cut a 12 point lead to just to 4 points in the 4th quarter. Potomac's size was too much in the end for the Bears to overcome. The FINAL SCORE for the Championship game: Potomac 64 - Oakdale 51

Even though the Bears lost tonight they had a tremendous season. So many memories that will never be forgotten. Some of the highlights include, traveling together to the Governors Challenge, watching Zach Thomas score his 2,000th point, traveling to games, scoring 100 points in a game, Coach Connolly achieving his 200th win, Oakdale student section, Senior Night, watching Clay Conner score his 1,000th point, MVAL Piedmont Conference Champions, Winning the Regional Championship, pep rally (over 1,000 students wearing black t-shirts to school to support the team), becoming a 2A MD State Finalist, and so many other memories with the Seniors (4th year varsity players).

Seniors you will be sorely missed. It was a pleasure watching you grow and develop into true competitors. Your not only good basketball players your great young men.  Thanks again for establishing a great program.

OHS vs Patterson Mill (State Semi-Final)

Tonight was an exciting day and night for the Oakdale Team, the Oakdale Basketball Program, Oakdale High School, Oakdale Community, and OHS fans. The day started with a energized pep rally for the team. It was a site to see, over 1,000 students all dressed in black t-shirts to support the Boys Basketball team. The team was recognized, OHS students participated shooting contests, poms team performed as well as the cheerleaders. The team then boarded a charter bus with a police escort. Parents and fans cheered them on as they boarded.

The game was back and forth throughout the first quarter. The Bears picked up their intensity in the 2nd quarter and took a 27-19 lead at half. The Bears then outscored Patterson Mill by 10 in the 3rd. The Bears defense was awesome tonight and held Patterson Mill to only 34 points in the game. FINAL: Oakdale 56 - Patterson Mill 34. This was the first time a Frederick County boys basketball team has won in the State Semi-Final game since Gov. Thomas Johnson won in 2002.

Tomorrow the Bears will play in the 2A Maryland State Championship game. The game will be at 6:00 p.m. against Potomac High School. We are asking all OHS fans to wear their black t-shirts.

OHS vs Middletown (playoff game)

The Bears opened up this years playoff with a win against a pesky Middletown team. The Knights shot over 60% from the 3 point line in the 1st half. This enabled Middletown to keep the game within reach at half only down 1. In the second half the Bears tighten up their defense and the Knights 3 point shots were not falling like they were in the first half. Oakdale was able to extend their lead gradually throughout the 3rd and 4th quarter and put the game out of reach. FINAL: Oakdale 71- Middletown 55
Oakdale's next game is scheduled for Thursday night at home against Williamsport High School. Game time: 7:00 p.m.

SPECIAL NOTE: During last Tuesday's game verses Washington HS, Clay Conner scored his 1,000 career point. This evening Clay was recognized before the game with a commemorative basketball. Congratulations Clay!!
