OHS vs Westminster (PLAYOFF)

Tonight the Bears hosted the Westminster Owls in a Sectional Semi-final game. The game started off slow with neither team being productive offensively. Both teams picked up on offensive in the middle of the 1st quarter and the Owls held a 13-9 first quarter lead. The Bears stormed back in the 2nd quarter outscoring the Owls 22-12 to take a 6 point halftime lead. In the 2nd half the game tighten and went back and forth for several minutes. The Bears connected on some key 3 point shots and built a 6 point lead toward the end of the 4th quarter. Oakdale was able to protect the ball and force Westminster to foul. The Bears connected on enough free throws to secure the win.

The next game will be on Thursday Night against Seneca Valley (away game).

OHS vs Damascus (PLAYOFFS)

Last night the Oakdale Bears played in their 1st playoff game of the season. It was the QuarterFinals match up between OHS and Damascus HS, which took place at the Bear Den. The Oakdale student section was packed and the Bears were ready to begin their playoff journey. During the 1st quarter both teams traded baskets but the Bears were ahead 18-13 at the end of the quarter. The Bears played tough defense in the 2nd quarter and began to make a run. The Bears outscored the Hornets 29-6. It was a total TEAM effort, in the 2nd quarter alone 7 Bears scored. The Bears continued to dominate in the 2nd quarter and all Bears saw playing time. #veryproud #gobears  FINAL: Oakdale 87- Damascus 50

OHS vs Tuscarora (CMC Championship Game)

Tonight the Bears were competing in the CMC Championship game at Hood College against Tuscarora High School. The gym was packed with fans from both sides. There were also lots of fans from the Frederick community that came to watch an action packed game. At the beginning of the game, defense was tight with both teams going back and forth a few times without scoring. The Bears hit 3 three pointers which gave them a spark. Oakdale took the lead, outscoring the Titans 17-9 in the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter was a battle back and forth defensively and offensively, with the Titans outscoring the Bears by 2 in the 2nd. The Bears were up by 6 at half and came out strong in the 3rd outscoring the Titans 17-7. Tuscarora played very aggressive at the beginning of the 4th forcing several turnovers and scoring off of them. At one point the Titans went on a 12-0 run. The Bears remained tough and played hard to the end, coming out with the victory. This gives the Oakdale Boys Basketball program it's 4th conference championship in 5 years.

PLAYOFF GAME: The next game is scheduled for Friday night at home. It will be a doubleheader. The OHS girls will play at 5:30 PM and the Boys will play at 7:00 PM against Damascus High School.

OHS vs Northwest

The Bears were on the road tonight, visiting Northwest High School. During the first quarter the Bears played hard defensive and scored a school record of 31 points in the 1st. During the 2nd the Bears again outscored NW 27-10. All Bears saw playing time. Both teams played hard in the 2nd half but the Bears defeated NW 97- 61. This game was the last regular season game for the Bears.
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday at Hood College where Oakdale will compete with Tuscarora for the Conference Championship.

OHS vs Urbana

2017 SENIOR NIGHT
This evening the Bears were hosting Urbana High School. Tonight was Senior Night as the Bears honored it's 7 seniors.(Eli, Cory, Sean, Seamus, Brad, Brendan, Nigel) The game started off slow on the offensive end with  neither team scoring in the first couple of minutes.  Both teams got hot towards the end of the 1st quarter with the score tied at the end of the 1st. (14-14). The second quarter went back and forth with the Bears holding a 3 point halftime lead. The Bears jumped on the Hawks in the third quarter outscoring them 15-8, to take a 10 point lead going into the 4th quarter. Both teams shot a lot of free throws in the 4th quarter. The Bears out scored the Hawks 26-22 in the fourth giving them a 74-58 victory.
The next game is scheduled for Wednesday at Northwest High School.

OHS vs Tuscarora

Tonight the Bears faced the Titans for 1st place in the Central Maryland Conference. The gym was packed with fans and they were treated to one of the best games that gym has ever seen. The Bears struggled to make a shot in the 1st quarter, but played hard throughout. The Titans held a 13-4 lead after the 1st quarter. In the second quarter, the Bears offense picked up and continued tough defensive play to cut the Tuscarora lead to 2 points at halftime. The 3rd quarter saw the Bears explode offensively scoring 22  points in that quarter, to take a 6 point lead going into the 4th.  The 4th quarter went back and forth with both teams trading baskets, however Oakdale went on an exciting 8-0 run that made the crowd erupt. The Bears clinched the victory and share 1st place in the conference.

A tremendous S/O to our Oakdale Students/Oakdaliens for their HUGE support at the game. The gym was so loud the WFMD guys had a hard time talking and seeing the game. Thank you also to our OHS community and parents for packing the gym. Thank you!!

OHS vs South Hagerstown

On Wednesday night the Bears traveled to South Hagerstown. The Bears played hard coming off a tough win at Frederick on Tuesday night. Oakdale had a hot start shooting the ball in the 1st quarter taking a 25-13 lead. In the 2nd quarter the Rebels chipped away at the Bears lead and cut it to 8 point lead at half. In the 3rd quarter the Bears played very well both offensively and defensively and extended from 8 to 17 points. Both traded baskets in the 4th quarter as the Bears held on for the victory. OHS vs Frederick

The Bears were on the road tonight at Frederick High School. There wasn't a big crowd since it was a Tuesday night. The Bears started off very aggressive forcing a few turnovers in the first 2 minutes of play. At the end of the 1st quarter the Bears were leading 15-9. A tough Frederick team fought their way back in the 2nd quarter to tie the score at halftime 27-27. The 3rd quarter saw several lead changes, however the Bears were able to secure the lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. Great free throw shooting in the 4th quarter gave the Bears enough cushion to seal the victory. For the game, the Bears shot 21 for 25 from the free throw line. That made the difference in the game.

OHS vs Linganore

Last night was a very very exciting game between Oakdale and Linganore. The gym was crowded and both student sections evenly matched. The cheerleaders had battles almost every timeout and the crowd was loud and it was a very intense game. The first quarter began with both teams battling back and forth. Tough defense on both teams, ending the quarter 7-6 in favor of the Bears. The rest of the game was an intense battle, with both teams trading baskets and making plays. At the end of the fourth quarter the Bears were ahead by 2 with seconds to go when a Lancer drove in the lane and threw up a shot and it rolled around the rim and went in, tying the game and forcing the game into overtime. In overtime, the Bears came out strong and scored right away and then hit a big 3 to take a 5 point lead. The Lancers answered but had to foul going down the stretch to put the Bears on the line. The Bears connected on 6 out of the 8 free throws at the end of the game. FINAL: OHS 49 - LHS 44
