OHS vs South Carroll

Tonight the Bears were at home playing against South Carroll High School. The game was very slow tonight and it was a low scoring game. All the Bears saw playing time this evening. FINAL: Oakdale 50- South Carroll 27
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday night at home against Walkersville High School. JV 5:30 and Varsity starts at 7:00 p.m.

OHS vs Middletown

The Bears were away tonight at Middletown High School. The Bears took a 1st quarter lead 20-13 and the Bears were able to extend the lead by 20 at half. All the Bears were able to see playing time tonight.  FINAL SCORE: Oakdale 79 - Middletown 48
If weather permits, the Bears will be playing at home Monday ( vs South Carroll), Tuesday (vs Walkersville), and Friday (vs Frederick).

OHS vs South Carroll game has been rescheduled

Due to the weather, the Oakdale vs South Carroll game has been cancelled for this evening. The game has been rescheduled for Monday, January 27. It will be a home game for the Bears and the Junior Varsity game will begin at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:00 p.m.

Oakdale vs Linganore

Tonight again the stands were packed, the crowd was loud, and the fans were cheering. Thank you so much to the Oakdaliens (Oakdale Student Section) for coming out in their CAMO tonight and supporting the Bears. The game was a fast paced game from beginning to end. The Bears played tough defense and executed their offense very well. In fact the team set a new school record this evening by scoring 93 points in a single game (previous record: OHS vs Carver 87pts  1-31-11). The halftime score was 52-29 and the Final Score was OHS 93- LHS 54.
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday night at home against South Carroll High School. GO BEARS!!

OHS vs Thomas Johnson

The Bears were at home this evening. The gym was a little empty tonight, but the Oakdale student section was there supporting the Bears. Thanks Oakdaliens!!
The Bears jumped out to an early lead and it was 21-7 after the 1st period and 47-13 at halftime. All of the Bears saw playing time tonight. FINAL: Oakdale 81- TJHS 43 The next game is scheduled for Friday night at home against Linganore High School.

OHS vs Tuscarora

The stands were so packed tonight at Oakdale High School some had to stand in the doorways. At times it was so loud, the coaches couldn't communicate with their own team. Tonight's game was a very intense game with lots of energy and the boys played with a lot of emotion and enthusiasm. The game was fast paced and the Bears took a 12 point halftime lead. At the start of the second half the Bears executed on offense and defense very well and took a 19 point lead at the beginning of the 4th quarter. The Bears went on to win the game against the previous undefeated Titans. FINAL: OHS 82- THS 56  The next game is scheduled for Monday at HOME against Thomas Johnson High School.

Oakdale vs Urbana

The Bears traveled to Urbana High School this evening where the game was a very fast paced game as well as a playoff type atmosphere. At the end of the first quarter, the Bears were leading 16-8 and by the end of the 2nd quarter the Bears had out scored the Hawks 12-9. However, during the third quarter the Hawks stepped up the pace and outscored the Bears 20-8. It was a very loud and intense game with both sides of the student sections filled. During the 4th quarter, the game was back and forth and very physical. The Bears made a run but couldn't come up with the win in the final seconds losing by 2 points. FINAL SCORE: Urbana 63- Oakdale 61
The next game is scheduled for Friday Night at Oakdale where the Bears will be playing against the Tuscarora Titans. Game Time: 7:00 p.m.

OHS vs Frederick

The Bears were on the road tonight visiting the Frederick Cadets. The Bears jumped out to an early lead behind a great defensive effort. FINAL: OHS 66- FHS 35 All Bears saw playing time this evening. The next game is scheduled for tomorrow night (Tuesday) @ Urbana High School. (7:00 p.m.)

Oakdale at Governor's Challenge Basketball Tournament

The Bears traveled to Salisbury over the holidays and competed in the Governor's Challenge Basketball Tournament. It was a 3 day tournament which took place at the Wicomico Civic Center. The Bears played City (58-74) of Baltimore on Friday and Wicomico High School (64-44) on Saturday. The Bears ended their tournament 1-1 and had a great experience playing against good competition. I have posted picture, news, and youtube links of the tournament in the news section of my blog. The Bears next game is scheduled for Friday against Frederick High School @ FHS. (JV 5:30 and 7:00 Varsity)

OHS vs Walkersville

The Bears played away at Walkersville High School tonight. It was a tight 1st period (17-12). The Lions played aggressive but the Bears played solid throughout the game. The Bears made a run in the 2nd quarter and didn't look back. All Bears saw playing time tonight. FINAL SCORE: OHS 87 - WHS 59 School Record: Zach Thomas (45  points) The next game is scheduled for December 27 at the Governors Challenge Tournament in Salisbury, MD. against City at 4:30 p.m.

OHS vs Middletown

Tonight the Bears played at HOME against Middletown High School. Our fans were all wearing black tonight and both the OHS student section and the Middle School sections were filled. The Bears lead the whole game and all players were able to get playing time tonight. FINAL SCORE: OHS 77-MHS 41  The next game is scheduled for Friday night at Walkersville High School. GO BEARS!!!  Thank you to all the fans tonight for your support.

OHS plays at HOME tonight against MHS

Oakdale vs FSK

The Bears were visiting FSK tonight. The Bears jumped out to a early lead and continued to extend the lead during the rest of the game. All players were able to get playing time. Thanks to all that traveled to the game tonight to support the Bears. Final: OHS 77 - FSK 46. Next game is scheduled for Tuesday night at home against Middletown HS.

OHS vs Washington

Tonight Oakdale played in it's first game of the season. The game was played at home against Washington High School, WV. Washington came into the game ranked #1 in the state of WV, according to the Associated Press. The OHS student section was packed 30 minutes before the game started and the gym was very loud. Washington was leading at the end of the 1st period (15-12) and then extended their lead to 16 by the end of the 3rd period. The Bears fought back and played hard to get within 1 with seconds left, however Washington held on for the win. FINAL SCORE: Washington 69- Oakdale 66.  Next Game is scheduled for Friday Night (tonight) @ FSK.

Season Opener

The 2013-2014 season will begin on Thursday Night when Oakdale High School takes on Washington High School from West Virgina. The end of the year varsity banquet was last night. It was so good to see everyone and share great memories of a terrific season. Seniors you will be missed!!

Oakdale vs Edmondson (2A State Semi-Final)

The Oakdale Bears had an amazing season, it was capped off with a thrilling DOUBLE OVERTIME State Semi-Final Game vs Edmondson/Westside. Edmondson/Westside was the #1 Ranked 2A School in the State of Maryland. The game featured many ties and lead changes throughout the game. The Bears out rebounded the taller Edmondson players and they were fearless tonight. In the last few minutes of regulation and both overtimes Edmondson went into a stall offense and held the ball until the final seconds. The Bears fell short on the scoreboard, however many people in attendance felt that Oakdale outplayed Edmondson. We want to thank all the fans, students, parents, friends, and community for all their support during the season and for coming out tonight to support the team. Our fan section tonight had to be one of the biggest fan sections for a Maryland State High School Boys Basketball game at Comcast. Thanks Bear Fans!! OAKDALE HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL
2A WEST REGIONAL CHAMPIONS

 

 

 

Tonight was a very exciting night. The Bears were playing in the 2A West Regional Championship against Poolesville High School. The stands were filled to capacity and it was standing room only around the court. The game was sold out by 6:30 p.m. An estimated 75+ people were turned away after the doors closed. There were about 300-400 Oakdale Students dressed in White to support the BEARS. It was so loud in the gym I couldn't hear the person next to me at the scorers table. A BIG S/O to the Oakdaliens and our community for coming out tonight and supporting our team.  It was a tight game from the start going back and forth and it was a fast paced game. At the end of the 1st period the score was 12-11 in favor of the Bears. The 2nd quarter was close as well, however the Bears lead by 3 at half. The Bears came out in the 3rd quarter strong and out scored Poolesville 12-8. They rebounded well, hustled, and stayed strong. The Bears maintained their lead and held on for the win. Final: Oakdale 61 - Poolesville 53    GO BEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Bears next game is on next Friday Night at COMCAST at 7:00 p.m.

Regional Final Game

The 2A West Regional Final game has been schedule for Friday, March 8th @ 7:00 p.m.
Oakdale vs Poolesville @ Oakdale

Oakdale vs FSK (Regional Semi-Final)

This evening the Bears were playing in the Regional Semi-Final Game against Francis Scott Key High School. The Bears came out strong and took an early lead. ( end of the 1st quarter 19-10 ) The Bears maintained the lead for the entire game, played tight defensive and rebounded well. The game was full of excitement and the crowd was really into the game. FINAL: Oakdale 62 - FSK 55  The Bears will be playing next in the Regional Final game against Poolesville High School. The game is tentatively scheduled for Friday, pending weather.  S/O to the Oakdale Student Section and the Oakdale community for coming out tonight to support the Bears. The Oakdale fans were loud and rocking the Bear Den tonight. GO BEARS!!!

Semi-Final Regional Game (Tuesday Night)

As of this morning the game is still scheduled for this evening at 6:00 p.m. ( Oakdale vs FSK )Hopefully the snow can stay away until the game is over. GO BEARS!!   @OakdaleBball

Oakdale vs Century (Playoff Game)

 

 

Tonight was the 2A West Quarter Final Game with the Century Knights from Carroll County against the Oakdale Bears. The game was tight early and there were many lead changes in the first half. The Bears took a one point lead at half time. The Bears came out at half time and played tremendous defense and went on to out score the Knights 19-7 in the 3rd quarter. The Bears were able to maintain the lead throughout the 4th quarter and finish the game strong. Final: Oakdale 50 - Century 36.  S/O goes to the Oakdale Student section, tonight was the largest student section in Oakdale history. The next game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5th at 6:00 p.m. in the Bear Den against FSK.

Oakdale vs Century

 The Bears were home tonight playing in their last regular season game. Their opponent was Century High School. The Oakdale student section was large and in Red (supporting Heart Disease Awareness) The Bears jumped out to an early lead with the score being 21-7 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Bears played tight intense defense and rebounded well. The Bears maintained the lead throughout the game and all Bears received playing time this evening.
FINAL SCORE: Oakdale 71- Century 52.

The Playoff Draw is scheduled to begin on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. The brackets will be posted online that afternoon. The first playoff game for the Bear's will be on Thursday, Feb. 28th at home.

Oakdale vs South Hagerstown

South Hagerstown was visiting the Bears this evening. During the first quarter their was a lot of tight defense which limited scoring. It was only 12-8 at the end of the 1st. Throughout the 2nd quarter the game was back and forth and the score at the end of the half was 29-25. The pace picked up in the second half and the Bears executed on offense and took a 9 point lead at the end of the 3rd quarter.  The Bears were strong with the ball and were able to knock down free throws at the end of the game to secure the win. FINAL: OHS 59- South Hagerstown 52   The last regular season game will be at home this Friday vs. Century High School. The Game will be a Red Out game for Heart Disease Awareness. GO BEARS!

Piedmont Conference Champs!!

 

Tonight was a special night for the Oakdale Boys Basketball Program. First, we celebrated our Seniors during the schools first Senior Night for Boys Basketball. Secondly, with the win this evening the Oakdale Bears became the Piedmont Conference Champions. The win also clinched the #1 seed for the 2A West Playoffs. GO BEARS!! It was a very exciting evening all around. The Bears played intense defense through out the game. The game began with the Bears taking an early lead in the 1st quarter 21- 12.  It was 37-17 at half.  Final Score: Oakdale 67 - Middletown 40  All Bears saw playing time this evening.   The next game is scheduled for Tuesday Night against South Hagerstown at home. NOTE: The game on Tuesday Night is a PINK OUT game. GO BEARS!!

Oakdale vs Linganore

 

 

The Bears played away tonight at Linganore High School. Oakdale came out fierce tonight with a great display of defensive pressure. They held Linganore to 13 points at half. The Bears extended their lead in the second half which enabled all the Bears to see playing time tonight. The Final Score was OHS 69- LHS 39. The next game is scheduled for Friday Night at home. The Bears will be playing against Middletown High School. This will be the FIRST SENIOR NIGHT for the Oakdale Boys Basketball Program. There will be 4 seniors being recognized.

Oakdale vs Tuscarora

The Bears were visiting the Tuscarora Titans tonight. Both teams battled all evening back and forth. The Bears fought back from an early deficit and took the lead at the end of the 1st quarter 18-17. At the end of the 2nd quarter  the score was 33-32, and it was tied at the end of the 3rd quarter 49-49. In the final minutes, the Bears just couldn't get their shots to fall. This was a battle between two of the best teams in the county and the Bears came up short.  Final Score: THS 63 - OHS 58  The next game is scheduled for Wednesday Night against Linganore High School @LHS. GO BEARS!! (no photographer tonight)
