Oakdale vs Century (Playoff Game)

 

 

Tonight was the 2A West Quarter Final Game with the Century Knights from Carroll County against the Oakdale Bears. The game was tight early and there were many lead changes in the first half. The Bears took a one point lead at half time. The Bears came out at half time and played tremendous defense and went on to out score the Knights 19-7 in the 3rd quarter. The Bears were able to maintain the lead throughout the 4th quarter and finish the game strong. Final: Oakdale 50 - Century 36.  S/O goes to the Oakdale Student section, tonight was the largest student section in Oakdale history. The next game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5th at 6:00 p.m. in the Bear Den against FSK.

Oakdale vs Century

 The Bears were home tonight playing in their last regular season game. Their opponent was Century High School. The Oakdale student section was large and in Red (supporting Heart Disease Awareness) The Bears jumped out to an early lead with the score being 21-7 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Bears played tight intense defense and rebounded well. The Bears maintained the lead throughout the game and all Bears received playing time this evening.
FINAL SCORE: Oakdale 71- Century 52.

The Playoff Draw is scheduled to begin on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. The brackets will be posted online that afternoon. The first playoff game for the Bear's will be on Thursday, Feb. 28th at home.

Oakdale vs South Hagerstown

South Hagerstown was visiting the Bears this evening. During the first quarter their was a lot of tight defense which limited scoring. It was only 12-8 at the end of the 1st. Throughout the 2nd quarter the game was back and forth and the score at the end of the half was 29-25. The pace picked up in the second half and the Bears executed on offense and took a 9 point lead at the end of the 3rd quarter.  The Bears were strong with the ball and were able to knock down free throws at the end of the game to secure the win. FINAL: OHS 59- South Hagerstown 52   The last regular season game will be at home this Friday vs. Century High School. The Game will be a Red Out game for Heart Disease Awareness. GO BEARS!

Oakdale vs Middletown (SENIOR NIGHT)

Piedmont Conference Champs!!

 

Tonight was a special night for the Oakdale Boys Basketball Program. First, we celebrated our Seniors during the schools first Senior Night for Boys Basketball. Secondly, with the win this evening the Oakdale Bears became the Piedmont Conference Champions. The win also clinched the #1 seed for the 2A West Playoffs. GO BEARS!! It was a very exciting evening all around. The Bears played intense defense through out the game. The game began with the Bears taking an early lead in the 1st quarter 21- 12.  It was 37-17 at half.  Final Score: Oakdale 67 - Middletown 40  All Bears saw playing time this evening.   The next game is scheduled for Tuesday Night against South Hagerstown at home. NOTE: The game on Tuesday Night is a PINK OUT game. GO BEARS!!

Oakdale vs Linganore

 

 

The Bears played away tonight at Linganore High School. Oakdale came out fierce tonight with a great display of defensive pressure. They held Linganore to 13 points at half. The Bears extended their lead in the second half which enabled all the Bears to see playing time tonight. The Final Score was OHS 69- LHS 39. The next game is scheduled for Friday Night at home. The Bears will be playing against Middletown High School. This will be the FIRST SENIOR NIGHT for the Oakdale Boys Basketball Program. There will be 4 seniors being recognized.

Oakdale vs Tuscarora

The Bears were visiting the Tuscarora Titans tonight. Both teams battled all evening back and forth. The Bears fought back from an early deficit and took the lead at the end of the 1st quarter 18-17. At the end of the 2nd quarter  the score was 33-32, and it was tied at the end of the 3rd quarter 49-49. In the final minutes, the Bears just couldn't get their shots to fall. This was a battle between two of the best teams in the county and the Bears came up short.  Final Score: THS 63 - OHS 58  The next game is scheduled for Wednesday Night against Linganore High School @LHS. OHS vs Frederick

 

 

Tonight the Bears played at home against Frederick High School. The first quarter was back and forth at 15-13. The Bears went on a run and outscored the Cadets 12-8 in the 2nd. The Bears played tough defense, rebounded well and were patient with the ball. During the 3rd quarter the Bears again outscored the Cadets 13-6. The Bears maintained that lead and the final score was 55-42. The Bears next game is on Tuesday Night at Tuscarora High School. It will be a battle between the top two teams in the county. GO BEARS!!!

OHS vs Walkersville

Tonight the Bears were visiting the Walkersville Lions. The Bears jumped out a a very early lead with some GREAT defensive intensity. The score at the end of the 1st quarter was 25-7. The Bears continued to play hard tough defense which caused many turnovers for Walkersville. At halftime, the score was 45-13. The Bears continued to play strong in the 2nd half and ALL the Bears were able to see playing time tonight. Final Score:  OHS 75 - Walkersville 38  The next game is schedule for Friday Night at Oakdale High School against the Frederick Cadets.  GO BEARS!!!!

OHS vs LHS has been rescheduled

Due to the snow this evening, the OHS vs LHS game has been cancelled. The game has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 6th.

Tonight the Bears played at home against the Thomas Johnson Patriots. The Bears took an early lead and at the end of the 1st quarter the score was 15-6. The Bears maintained the lead throughout the game and beat TJ with the final score being OHS 47-  TJ 38. Tonight the Bears and the Hawks were playing at Oakdale High School. The Oakdale Student Section was dressed in Neon and the gym was packed with loud fans from both sides. Oakdale took an early lead outscoring the Hawks 13-7 after the first quarter. The Bears played fast and furious. They played tight tough defense and rebounded very well. The Oakdale Bears were very exciting to watch tonight!! Way to go Bears!!!  Note: All the Bears were able to get playing time tonight. FINAL SCORE: Oakdale 57-Urbana 40 The next game is schedule for Wednesday Night at Home against the Thomas Johnson Patriots. GO BEARS!!!!!

OHS vs South Carroll

Tonight Oakdale High School was visiting the South Carroll Cavaliers. The game started off very physical and it was a very low scoring game. (1st quarter 7-4) At halftime the score was only 17-13. The Bears played tough defensive and was able to come away with some strong rebounds. At the end of the game the Bears took control and scored some key baskets and continued to play tough defense which sealed the win.  Final Score: Oakdale 46-South Carroll 35. The next game is scheduled for Friday Night at Home against Urbana High School.  GO BEARS!! (No photographer at game)

OHS vs Middletown

The Bears were visiting the Middletown Knights tonight. At the end of the1st quarter the score was 14-8.  The Bears gradually pulled away until the end of the game and were able to win with a final score of 59-38. Note: Tonight all the Bears were able to get playing time. The next game is scheduled for Tuesday Night at South Carroll High School.

OHS vs Tuscarora

The Bears were at home tonight playing against Tuscarora High School.  Tuscarora came into the game ranked 1st in the county. At the end of the first quarter the Bears were leading 15-11.  The game was a very exciting game with playoff like atmosphere. The stands were packed with fans from both sides as well as visitors from throughout the county. At halftime the Bears were leading 33-27. The Bears had a great third quarter and outscored the Titans 16-4. The game became physical in the 4th quarter.  The Bears played strong and knocked down free throws to seal the win.  FINAL: OHS 56- THS 50. The Bears next game is scheduled for Friday Night @ Middletown High School.  GO BEARS!!!

OHS vs Frederick

Tonight the Bears were visiting the Frederick Cadets. The Bears took a 29-17 halftime lead, however in the second half the game became very physical. The Bears made enough free throws to maintain the lead through the 4th quarter and won the game 63-57. The Bears next game is at home on Tuesday, January 8th against Tuscarora.  GO BEARS!!!

Tonight the Bears were playing against the Walkersville Lions at home. The Bears played tough defensive and jumped out to an early lead. (20-10 at the end of the 1st qtr) The Bears continued to play well in 2nd qtr and took a 40-23 lead at halftime. The Bears defensive didn't let up in the 2nd half and they played well together as a team. FINAL: OHS 70-WHS 38   Thanks to the Oakdale Fans for coming out tonight and supporting the BEARS!!!

Governor's Challenge Tournament

Kevin won the 3pt shoot-out and was given a trophy by one of representatives from Dr. Pepper.

 

 

The Tournament trip was a great experience playing in a big forum. Playing in The Civic Center was like being in a small Verizon Center. Although the Bears came up short in the tournament, it was a good opportunity to be together as a team.

OHS vs Liberty

The Bears were on the road tonight playing at Liberty High School. We got off to a slow start and the score was tied at halftime. The Bears came out strong in the 2nd half and executed on offense and were tenacious on defensive.  The Bears built and kept a 10 point lead for most of the 2nd half.  FINAL SCORE: OHS 50- LIBERTY 43  Our next game is at the Governors Challenge Tournament in Salisbury, Maryland. Go Bears!!

OHS vs Linganore

 

Tonight's game was home against Linganore High School. The gym was jam packed with fans, it was a great atmosphere for a December basketball game. The Bears jumped out to a 14-8 first quarter lead and then extended it to 12 points at half.  The Bears outscored the Lancers 22-6 in the 3rd quarter to put the game out of reach. FINAL SCORE: OHS 57- LHS 31   The next game is scheduled for Thursday Night at Liberty High School.

Tonight the Bears were visiting Governor Thomas Johnson High School. The Bears took a early lead with the score 19-8 after the first quarter. They extended the lead even further during the 2nd quarter and at halftime the score was 41-23. In the second half the Bears continued to play well down the stretch and they were able to secure the win. Final Score: OHS 74- TJHS 38  The next game is at home on Tuesday Night against Linganore High School.

Oakdale vs Urbana

Tonight Oakdale was visiting the Hawks at Urbana High School. The Bears jumped out to an early lead scoring 15 points in the 1st period (15-10) and 16 points in the 2nd period (16-8). The halftime score was 31-18. It was a great rivalry game, both student sections were packed and made for an exciting game. The Hawks cut the lead down to 6 in the 4th quarter, but the Bears responded and held onto the lead for the win.   Final Score: OHS 57- UHS 45  The Bears next game is scheduled for Friday at Gov. Thomas Johnson High School.  GO BEARS!!

OHS vs North Hagerstown

Tonight the Bears were away at North Hagerstown High School.  We started off a little slow and ended the 1st quarter 12-17. The game was very physical and intense and NHHS was pretty quick. By halftime we were still down 25-31. The Bears out hustled NHHS in the 2nd half and went on a 6-0 run. We out rebounded them and got back in the game. It went back and forth for awhile and the game was tied for awhile. The Bears took the lead and never looked back, winning 53-46.  Our next game is on Tuesday night at Urbana High School.  GO BEARS!!

Oakdale vs FSK

Tonight the Bears had their first game of the season at home. They played host to Francis Scott Key High School. The Bears came out strong and took a 18-11 lead during the 1st period. FSK battled back and came within 4 pts at half. The third quarter had lots of action back and forth. In the 4th quarter the Bears came up with an exciting 7-0 run which ignited the Bears to a great finish. Final Score: OHS 65 - FSK 53  The Bears next game is schedule for Friday night - @ North Hagerstown

End of the Year Banquet

I regret I did not get a picture of everyone at the banquet last night. Never the less it was a great evening. The dinner was great and the banquet was very enjoyable. It was a memorable season and I hope next years will be even better. GO BEARS!!!! Take care, Mrs. C.
