2015 Governors Challenge Tournament

The Bears traveled to Salisbury, Maryland on Dec. 29-30 to participate the Governors Challenge Tournament. The first night the Bears faced Sussex Tech from Delaware at Wicomico High School. Sussex Tech did not have a lot of size but was very athletic.The Bears took at 4 point lead going into the half. The Bears used their size advantage in the second half, getting easy baskets inside and shooting well from the free throw line. Oakdale was able to finish the game strong for the 12 point win. Final: OHS 66- Sussex Tech 54
This evening the Bears faced CH Flowers from Prince Georges county. The Bears were physical with Flowers in the first quarter and there were lots of lead changes. Flowers outscored the Bears in the 2nd quarter 16-8. The Bears tried to close the lead in the 3rd quarter however Flowers connected on 21 points off of turnovers. Flowers were able to maintain the lead and ended the game....CH Flowers 51- OHS 33.
The tournament was a good experience for our team and a great opportunity to travel together. Thank you to the Governors Challenge Tournament for hosting.
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday night against Linganore High School @ LHS.

OHS vs Gov.Thomas Johnson

Tonight the Bears played at home against Gov. Thomas Johnson High School. TJ is much improved from last year and came in with a record of 3-1. The Bears played the first half with a great deal of emotion and were able to hold TJ to just 16 first half points. The Bears led 23-16 at half. TJ was able to close the gap in the 3rd quarter and tie the game at 33 all in the 4th quarter. The Bears got tough and were strong with the ball, made free throws down the stretch, and held TJ scoreless the last 3 minutes of the game. Oakdale was able to seal the game 43-33.

Thank you to all the Oakdale Fans that came out and supported the Bears this evening. It was a great Holiday Night themed game. Fans came out dressed in their best holiday wear.

The Bears will be participating in the Governors Challenge Tournament in Salisbury, MD December. 29-30.  The first game is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 29 at Wicomico High School against Sussex Tech.

OHS vs Brunswick

The Bears hosted the Brunswick Railroaders this evening. Oakdale jumped out to a 22-8 lead in the 1st quarter. The game was back and forth throughout the second quarter and second half with Brunswick cutting the lead to 5 in the fourth quarter. The Bears hung tough and made some good offensive plays down the stretch to extend the 5 point lead and were able to finish the game with a final score of OHS 61-BHS 47
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 22 at home against TJHS.

OHS vs Paint Branch

Tonight for the first home contest, the game had to be hosted at Hood College. The Bears played Paint Branch HS from Montgomery County. Oakdale jumped out to an early 1st quarter lead with tenacious defense. The defensive intensity and rebounding only got better during the second quarter which gave the Bears an 18 point halftime lead. In the second half Paint Branch fought back and cut the lead to 12 in the 3rd quarter. Oakdale responded with several great offensive rebounds that helped them extend the lead past 20 points. All Bears saw playing time tonight. Final: OHS 71- Paint Branch 39  The Bears go on the road and visit South Hagerstown on Tuesday, Dec. 15 for the next contest.

OHS vs Middletown

The Bears were visiting the Knights of Middletown this evening. The Bears jumped out to an early lead outscoring the Knights 17-13 in the 1st and 12-8 in the 2nd. After halftime the Knights scored 8 unanswered points. After several lead changes the scored tied with 2 minutes to go. In the final seconds the Knights connected on a few foul shots to secure the lead. Final: MHS 55-OHS 50
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Hood College against Paint Branch High School.

OHS vs Martinsburg

The 2015-2016 season began last night as the Bears traveled to Martinsburg HS in West Virginia. The Bulldogs are ranked in the top 5 teams in West Virginia. The gym had a lot of people in attendance for a Wednesday Night game. The Bulldogs were a very aggressive and fast team. They outscored and out rebounded the bears and never looked back  Final: MHS 74- OHS 56
