Oakdale vs Paint Branch

This evening the Bears were on the road and visited Paint Branch High School in Montgomery County. Paint Branch was a very quick and athletic team and the game was fast paced from the start. The Bears defense was outstanding and held Paint Branch to 6 points in the first quarter. It was a tough fought game throughout the 1st half as the Bears took a 12 point lead at half.  In the second half the game became even more physical, however the Bears hung tough and were able to control the tempo of the game. Also, the Bears added a strong free throw showing making 23 of 27 from the line.  A school record was set this evening for the most rebounds in a game. Sean Jodrie grabbed 26 rebounds for the game, helping the Bears seal the win with a FINAL SCORE of 63-47. The win improves the Bears record to 2-0 and the next game is schedule for Tuesday at home against South Hagerstown. GO BEARS!

Oakdale vs Middletown

Tonight was the season opener for the 2016-2017 OHS Boys Basketball Team. The team was home tonight, playing against Middletown High School. The stands were packed in the Oakdale Student Section. They were dressed in White Oakdalien Connolly Crazies T-shirts.

The game started with both teams playing very hard from the start. The Bears took 14-11 lead after the 1st quarter and were able to extend the lead to 10 points at half. The Bears fast pace offense and tenacious defense allowed the Bears to win the 3rd quarter 18-3. The Bears coasted in the 4th quarter and all Bears saw playing time. FINAL SCORE: OHS 74 - MIDDLETOWN 36.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) away at Paint Branch High School.

3A West Sectional Final Game - OHS vs SVHS

This evening the Bears traveled to Seneca Valley High School for the 3A West Sectional Final. During the first quarter the game went back and forth with many lead changes. The Bears held a 2 point lead at the end of the 1st quarter. During the 2nd quarter Seneca Valley used their size advantage and was able to get several inside baskets to take a 8 point lead at halftime.  In the third quarter Seneca Valley lead as many as 14 points.The Bears fought back during the 4th quarter and cut the lead to 7, with a chance to get even closer when a 3 pointer rimmed out. Oakdale would not get any closer and fell to SVHS 50-62.

OHS vs Urbana

Oakdale began their playoff run tonight in the Sectional Semi-Final against Urbana High School. The Bears received a 1st round bye with the 2nd seed of the sectional. It was definitely playoff atmosphere as the Bears den was almost filled to capacity. The Bears jumped all over Urbana in the first quarter shooting a high percentage from the field and lead 21-11 after the first. Urbana fought back and cut the lead to 5 at half. The third quarter was intense with both teams making good offensive plays. The fourth quarter began with the Bears still holding a 5 point lead. Oakdale was able to extend the lead to 20 and sealed the victory with good free throw shooting. Oakdale will travel to Seneca Valley on Wednesday Night for the Sectional Final. The game is tentatively scheduled for 6PM start at Seneca Valley High School.

OHS vs Tuscarora

Last night the Bears traveled to Tuscarora High School. The game was played at a fast pace. It was a playoff type atmosphere and both teams fought very hard. Tuscarora held a 8 point lead at halftime, but the Bears fought back to tie the game in the 3rd quarter. There was numerous lead changes through out the rest of the game, which ended in a tie during regulation. In overtime, there was several lead changes that lead to Tuscarora holding a 2 point lead and shooting free throws with 5 seconds left. Tuscarora missed free throws and Oakdale rebounded the ball and called a time out with 2.8 seconds. The final play was executed very well and gave Oakdale a chance to win the game at the buzzer but the shot rimmed out. Final: Tuscarora 64 - Oakdale 62

OHS vs Frederick

Tonight the Bears hosted Frederick High School, which is the first of two rescheduled games that have to be played this week. Oakdale started off strong in the first quarter and continued their strong play from last week leading the Cadets 12-8 in the 1st quarter. Oakdale held a slim 3 point lead at half. The second half started and their were many lead changes throughout at the 3rd quarter. The Bears saved their best effort for the 4th quarter outscoring the Cadets 23-15. Final: OHS 64 - FHS 55

Tomorrow the Bears will be visiting Tuscarora (Wednesday, Feb. 24) at 7:00 PM

Week of Feb. 15

Sorry I'm a little behind in posting. The week of February 15, Oakdale played 3 games in a row. (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) The Bears are peaking at the right time before playoffs with wins against Urbana (Tuesday), Northwest at home (Wednesday), and Walkersville away on Thursday. With these three wins the Bears clinched a #2 seed on our half of the bracket in the 3A West. Oakdale will receive a first round bye in the playoffs and host the winner of Urbana/Poolesvilles, who will play this Friday Night. Oakdale will host that winner, this Monday, Feb. 29 at 7:00 PM


Wednesday Night was Senior Night. We have 3 seniors this year (Tyler, Sean M, and Connor) The fans came out dressed in Red to promoted heart disease awareness.

OHS vs Catoctin

Last night the Bears played at home against Catoctin High School. It was a quite evening with not many fans in attendance. The Bears took the lead after the 1st quarter leading 24-15. After halftime, the Bears came out strong offensively scoring 29 points in the 3rd quarter. The Bears held on for the win and Bears saw playing time. Final: Oakdale 82- Catoctin 59
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday Night against Urbana High School @ UHS.

OHS vs South Hagerstown


This evening the Bears played at home against South Hagerstown High School. South Hagerstown played very scrappy and aggressive defense. The Bears played very good defensive and were able to take a 21-15 halftime lead. The second half saw several runs by both teams and the Bears were able to extend their lead in the 4th quarters to seal the victory. Final: Oakdale 49- SH 39
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday night at home against Frederick High School. (if school is in session)

OHS vs Linganore

Tonight's game was at home against Linganore High School. The gym was full of fans from both teams. The Oakdaliens were dressed in Camo and the Lancers in black. The Lancers controlled the 1st quarter outscoring the Bears 18-8. While during the 2nd quarter, the Bears fought back with tough defensive holding the Lancers to just 5 points. The 2nd half was very intense with several lead changes. The game came down to the last 4 seconds where the game was tied. The Lancers scored 2 points with 3 seconds left and the Bears had one final shot with 2.8 seconds left in the game. The ball hit the rim but just didn't fall. It was a very exciting game and very hard fought. Final: Linganore 53- Oakdale 51
The next game is scheduled for Monday at home against South Hagerstown. The game will be a Pink Out game.

OHS vs TJHS

Tonight the Bears traveled to Governor Thomas Johnson High School. The Bears got off to a fast start and took a 18-11 first quarter lead. Oakdale clamped down hard on defense in the 2nd quarter and held TJ to just 5 points, taking a 39-16 halftime lead. The Bears continued their good shooting and tough defense in the 3rd and held a 60-24 3rd quarter lead. All Bears saw playing time and 10 Bears were able to score. The final score was OHS 74-TJ 44.
The Bears next contest is this Friday at home against Linganore High School. GO BEARS!!!!

OHS vs Martinsburg

The Bears hosted Martinsburg High School on Tuesday Night, who came in ranked #4 in the state of West Virginia. Martinsburg held a 39-18 point halftime lead. In the second half the Bears fought their way back and cut the lead to 13 in the 3rd quarter and once in the fourth quarter but could not get any closer in the second half. The final score was Martinsburg 70-OHS 55.

OHS vs Urbana

This evening our boys basketball team played at home against the Urbana Hawks. The Bears jumped out to an early lead with good defense and intense play. The score at the end of the first quarter was 17-5. The Bears defense only got better in the second quarter holding the Hawks to 2 points, giving the Bears a 26-7 halftime lead. All bears saw playing time in the 2nd half. The Bears finished the game with a 55-32 win.

The Bears next game is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 26 at home against Catoctin High School.

OHS vs Tuscarora

The Bears were at home tonight, playing against the Tuscarora Titans. Oakdale had to overcome a 9 for 11 three point shooting effort from the visiting Titans. The Bears played with a great deal of energy, effort, and emotion which enabled them to stay with the Titans despite their great 3 point shooting tonight. With about 3 minutes to go in the 4th quarter the Bears were tied with Tuscarora. The Bears had a few opportunities to keep pace with the Titans, but were unable to connect. Tuscarora was 7 for 11 from the free throw line in the 4th quarter, which sealed the win. FINAL: THS 60 - OHS 53

Oakdale vs Frederick

The Oakdale Bears were on the road Friday night as they took on the Frederick Cadets. The game was a low scoring 1st half, with the Bears leading 21-17 at half. The Cadets outscored the Bears 24-10 in the 3rd quarter taking a 6 point lead going into the 4th. The Cadets extended their lead in the 4th quarter by 11 but the Bears stormed back and cut the lead to 3 with 2:00 minutes left in the game. Oakdale had a few chances to close the gap even closer but could not connect on any field goals and the Cadets won the game with the Final Score FHS 55- OHS 49.
The Bears next game is scheduled for Tuesday night at home against Tuscarora High School.

OHS vs Linganore

This evening the Bears traveled to Linganore High School. Linganore came into the game undefeated with a record of 8-0. The Bears started off hot making several 3's and took a 14-10 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Bears held onto the 4 point lead going into halftime. Linganore outscored the
Bears by 5 in the 3rd quarter to take a 1 point lead going into the 4th. During the 4th quarter the score was back and forth and Linganore held a 3 point lead with 2 minutes to go. Oakdale was forced to foul and Lingaore connected on 7 for 10 free throws during the 4th quarter to seal the win. FINAL: LHS 56 - OHS 48
The Bears travel to Frederick High School on Friday for their next contest.

2015 Governors Challenge Tournament

The Bears traveled to Salisbury, Maryland on Dec. 29-30 to participate the Governors Challenge Tournament. The first night the Bears faced Sussex Tech from Delaware at Wicomico High School. Sussex Tech did not have a lot of size but was very athletic.The Bears took at 4 point lead going into the half. The Bears used their size advantage in the second half, getting easy baskets inside and shooting well from the free throw line. Oakdale was able to finish the game strong for the 12 point win. Final: OHS 66- Sussex Tech 54
This evening the Bears faced CH Flowers from Prince Georges county. The Bears were physical with Flowers in the first quarter and there were lots of lead changes. Flowers outscored the Bears in the 2nd quarter 16-8. The Bears tried to close the lead in the 3rd quarter however Flowers connected on 21 points off of turnovers. Flowers were able to maintain the lead and ended the game....CH Flowers 51- OHS 33.
The tournament was a good experience for our team and a great opportunity to travel together. Thank you to the Governors Challenge Tournament for hosting.
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday night against Linganore High School @ LHS.

OHS vs Gov.Thomas Johnson

Tonight the Bears played at home against Gov. Thomas Johnson High School. TJ is much improved from last year and came in with a record of 3-1. The Bears played the first half with a great deal of emotion and were able to hold TJ to just 16 first half points. The Bears led 23-16 at half. TJ was able to close the gap in the 3rd quarter and tie the game at 33 all in the 4th quarter. The Bears got tough and were strong with the ball, made free throws down the stretch, and held TJ scoreless the last 3 minutes of the game. Oakdale was able to seal the game 43-33.

Thank you to all the Oakdale Fans that came out and supported the Bears this evening. It was a great Holiday Night themed game. Fans came out dressed in their best holiday wear.

The Bears will be participating in the Governors Challenge Tournament in Salisbury, MD December. 29-30.  The first game is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 29 at Wicomico High School against Sussex Tech.

OHS vs Brunswick

The Bears hosted the Brunswick Railroaders this evening. Oakdale jumped out to a 22-8 lead in the 1st quarter. The game was back and forth throughout the second quarter and second half with Brunswick cutting the lead to 5 in the fourth quarter. The Bears hung tough and made some good offensive plays down the stretch to extend the 5 point lead and were able to finish the game with a final score of OHS 61-BHS 47
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 22 at home against TJHS.

OHS vs Paint Branch

Tonight for the first home contest, the game had to be hosted at Hood College. The Bears played Paint Branch HS from Montgomery County. Oakdale jumped out to an early 1st quarter lead with tenacious defense. The defensive intensity and rebounding only got better during the second quarter which gave the Bears an 18 point halftime lead. In the second half Paint Branch fought back and cut the lead to 12 in the 3rd quarter. Oakdale responded with several great offensive rebounds that helped them extend the lead past 20 points. All Bears saw playing time tonight. Final: OHS 71- Paint Branch 39  The Bears go on the road and visit South Hagerstown on Tuesday, Dec. 15 for the next contest.

OHS vs Middletown

The Bears were visiting the Knights of Middletown this evening. The Bears jumped out to an early lead outscoring the Knights 17-13 in the 1st and 12-8 in the 2nd. After halftime the Knights scored 8 unanswered points. After several lead changes the scored tied with 2 minutes to go. In the final seconds the Knights connected on a few foul shots to secure the lead. Final: MHS 55-OHS 50

OHS vs Martinsburg

The 2015-2016 season began last night as the Bears traveled to Martinsburg HS in West Virginia. The Bulldogs are ranked in the top 5 teams in West Virginia. The gym had a lot of people in attendance for a Wednesday Night game. The Bulldogs were a very aggressive and fast team. They outscored and out rebounded the bears and never looked back  Final: MHS 74- OHS 56

MD State Semi-Final - Oakdale vs Oakland Mills

Oakdale vs Oakland Mills

The game started pretty tight and it was an all out battle. After the 1st quarter  Oakland Mills led by 2 (16-14). In the 2nd quarter Oakland Mills was very aggressive on offensive by making lots of moves to the basket and they were out rebounding the bears. Oakland Mills ended up outscoring the Bears 20-7 in the 2nd quarter. After halftime the Bears rallied and took a stand and outscored Oakland Mills 23-17. In the 4th quarter it was back and fourth and the Bears at one point took a 2 point lead. However, we missed 4 free throws and had 3 offensive fouls called in a 2 minute stretch. Even with this the Bears had 2 three point shot opportunities to tie the game in the last 30 seconds but were unable able to connect and complete a great comeback. FINAL: Oakland Mills 66- Oakdale 60

2A WEST REGIONAL CHAMPS!!!!!!!!

Last night's 2A West Regional Championship game was intense! The gym was extremely loud and packed with fans. It was standing room only with people along each baseline wall standing or sitting. It was warm during the day so the gym was so hot by the time the game started, it was like a sauna. Both student crowds stood for most of the game and were really into the game. It was a great atmosphere and a memorable night. In the first quarter, Century was extremely accurate on offense hitting 3 three pointers, which added to their 15-11 lead. In the 2nd quarter it was an even game (17-17) and at halftime Century lead by 4 points. After halftime, the Bears came out aggressive and tough offensively and defensively which allowed them to dominate. In the 3rd they outscored Century 22-17 and 28-15 in the fourth. In addition the Bears were accurate from the foul line making 17 of 22, which most were made in the final 2:00 minutes of the game. With this win it gives the Bears the 2A West Regional Championship for the 3rd year in a row. It also places them into the Maryland State Semi-Final game vs Oakland Mills on Friday @ 7:00PM at Xfinity Center in UMD, College Park.

OHS vs Williamsport

Tonight's game was the most attended game of the season. It was a standing room only crowd and the Oakdaliens were dressed in Camo. The Bears started off strong taking a 17-14 lead at the end of the 1st quarter. Both teams were very physical and tough throughout the game. It was 29-28 at halftime with the Bears leading. In the 2nd half of the game it was very tight and then the Bears were able to extend their lead to 10 midway through the 4th quarter. This win sends the Bears into the Regional Championship. Final: Oakdale 64- Williamsport 56
Monday Nights game will be against Century High School at home starting at 8:00 PM.

OHS vs Middletown (playoff)

2A West Sectional Sem-Final Playoff Game
This evening the Oakdale Bears played against the Middletown Knights in the 2nd round of playoffs. The game was played at the Bears den with a loud and large crowd. With all of the snow delays and cancellations both teams struggled at times to catch their breath. However, both teams played tough and hard all evening long. The game began with the Bears taking a lead (12-8) at the end of the 1st quarter. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters were very close (1 to 2 point difference). The Bears were tough in the 4th quarter and made enough free throws, and played tight defense against the upset minded Knights to seal the win. Final: Oakdale 64- Middletown 61
The next playoff game is scheduled for Thursday Night at home against Williamsport, pending weather. It will be a doubleheader game, both against Williamsport. If the game cancelled due to weather the game will take place the next playable date. We will post updates as they become available.
