CMC Championship

Tonight was the 2018 CMC Championship at Hood College. It was the Oakdale Bears against the TJ Patriots. The gym was packed this evening with community fans, parents, and both student sections were full. The Patriots started out hot leading the Bears 20-7 during the 1st quarter. The Bears turned it around during the 2nd and outscored the Patriots 16-7 and again 15-9 in the 3rd. The fourth quarter was back in fourth but the Bears stayed tough and came up with the win. Playoffs start next week and the Bears get a BYE. Oakdale will then be playing the winner of South Carroll vs Winters Mill and on Monday, February 26 at home.

Tonight at Frederick it was a very intense game. The game was back in forth for most of the game. (1st quarter 15-17) (2nd quarter 21-21) (3rd quarter - 17-19) During the 4th the game again was back in fourth til the end. The Bears were up by 3 with about 4 seconds to go. Frederick took a 3 and it hit off the rim and the Bears got the rebound and the game was over.

Next week the Bears will be competing against TJHS in the CMC championship game at Hood College. Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 6:00 PM

Oakdale had an excellent game, playing together as a team on Thursday night. Everyone saw playing time and almost everyone scored. Please mark your calendar for the last 3 regular season home games. 2/6 OHS vs Smithsburg,  2/9 OHS vs BHS (Red Out and Senior Night), and 2/13 OHS vs Urbana (Pink Out). OHS vs Linganore

Tonight the Bears were hosting Linganore High School. The gym was pretty full on both sides and both student sections had plenty of fans. During the first half both teams traded buckets and played pretty tight defense. At halftime, the score was tied 23-23.  The Bears came out strong in the second half holding the Lancers to 6 field goals and forced 26 turnovers. At the end of the game, Oakdale played hard, made smart decisions and played good as a team to secure the win.

OHS vs Walkersville

Oakdale was visiting Walkersville this evening.  Walkersville started off strong and took control of the game. However the Bears fought back and took a 9 point lead at halftime. The third quarter was pretty even 14-13. The Lions made a run and hit 5 three pointers in the 4th quarter to give them the lead by 3 with 13 seconds to go. Collin Schlee pulled up for 3, far outside the 3-point range with about 2 seconds to go, tying the game and sending it into overtime. Mussa Crawford got a steal and connects on a lay-up which lights a fire with the Bears. The Lions connect on 2 - 3pts and the Bears step up their defense and Walkersville is forced to foul. The Bears connect on 4 out of 5 foul shots and another shot giving them a 2 point lead. The Lions had the last possession and the shot did not connect and the Bears got the rebound and the game ended. FINAL/OT:  OHS 63- WHS 61

OHS vs Williamsport

Tonight the Bears were home hosting Williamsport High School. The game started with the Bears taking control and outscoring Williamsport 21-9 in the 1st quarter. A tough Williamsport team fought back and outscored the Bears in the 2nd 23-13. During the 2nd half Oakdale played tough defense and played very well as a team to come out with the win. Final: OHS 68- Williamsport 52

OHS vs Tuscarora

This evening the Bears traveled to Tuscarora High School (MD). The gym was filled with fans from both sides. The game was back in forth the whole first half. However, the Bears took the lead at half-time with a 3 quarter court shot at the buzzer. The third quarter the Bears stepped up their defense and held the Titans to only 8 points giving Oakdale a 41-34 lead at the end of the third quarter. During the fourth quarter the Bears remained tough on defense and held a 8-10 point lead throughout the 4th quarter and finished with a win. Final score: OHS 52- THS 43

The next game is scheduled for Tuesday at home against Williamsport HS.

Note: In the Bears game history, there have only been 12 times in the schools history that 2 or more Oakdale players have scored 20 or more points in a single game. During the Brunswick game Collin Schlee scored 22 and JP DeLorenzo scored 20. Way to go Bears!

2017 Governors Challenge Tournament

The Bears traveled to Salisbury, Maryland to participate in the 2017 Governors Challenge Tournament. There were 120+ teams participating and we participated in the Delmarva  Power Bracket. The first game was on Tuesday Night against Randallstown High School. The Bears outscored Randallstown in the first quarter 15-2 and 20-17 in the 2nd, and 20-14 in the 3rd. Oakdale played strong and as a team to secure the win.

The championship game was on Wednesday against CH Flowers High School. It was a very exciting game til the end. I can't possibly outline the game as good as Kyle McFadden, so please read his article below.

OHS vs Linganore

The Bears traveled to Linganore tonight.  During the first quarter the score was very tight 12-13, but the Bears struggled with 6 turnovers. The Bears outscored the Lancers 21-13 in the 2nd quarter. The game was very intense all the way until the end. However, the Bears ended with 17 turnovers and the Lancers shot 69% from the field which allowed the LHS to win by 4..  Final Score: LHS 69 - OHS 65     The next game is scheduled for Thursday at Catoctin HS.

Oakdale vs Boonsboro

Friday night the Bears were playing at home against Boonsboro High School. Oakdale outscored the Warriors 24-2 during the first quarter and 31-5 during the 2nd quarter. There was a running clock during the 2nd half and the final scored was OHS 86- BHS 24.  All OHS players saw playing time and all scored (4 players scored in double digits).

The next game is scheduled for Tuesday night against Linganore High School (away).

OHS vs Walkersville

Tonight the Bears were playing at home tonight against Walkersville High School. The Bears jumped out to an early lead with some good passing and maintained a strong defensive effort. After the 1st quarter Oakdale was leading the Lions 17-8. The Bears continued to play good in the 2nd quarter and took a 20 point lead at halftime (43-23). After halftime, the Bears were able to extend the lead by as many as 32 points and all players were able to see playing time. Final Score: 85-53.

Welcome to the 2017-2018 Season

Tuesday, December 5 - OHS vs TJHS
The Bears first game of the season took place on Tuesday Night at home. The gymnasium was packed!! Oakdale jumped out to 18-6 lead with very hot shooting percentage, while playing aggressive defense that held the Patriots to only 6 points in the first quarter. The Bears continued their hot shooting and tough defense and took a 28-14 point lead into halftime. During the second half the Bears kept the pressure on defensively and was able to maintain their lead and finish strong for a 75-60 win for the first game of the season.

Friday, December 8 - OHS vs Williamsport
The Bears traveled to Williamsport tonight for their second game of the season. Williamsport is a conference and regional opponent and are always a tough team to beat at home. The Bears began the game with intensity on the defensive end which held the Wildcats to just 8 points at the end of the first quarter. Oakdale kept the defensive pressure on and started to connect offensively in the 2nd quarter and took a 38-19 halftime lead. During the second half the Bears continued it's up tempo pace while maintaining their defensive toughness. 12 of 14 bears scored in the game and all Bears saw playing time. The Final Score was OHS 77- Williamsport 40.

The next game is scheduled for Tuesday, December 12 at home against Walkersville HS.

OHS vs Westminster (PLAYOFF)

Tonight the Bears hosted the Westminster Owls in a Sectional Semi-final game. The game started off slow with neither team being productive offensively. Both teams picked up on offensive in the middle of the 1st quarter and the Owls held a 13-9 first quarter lead. The Bears stormed back in the 2nd quarter outscoring the Owls 22-12 to take a 6 point halftime lead. In the 2nd half the game tighten and went back and forth for several minutes. The Bears connected on some key 3 point shots and built a 6 point lead toward the end of the 4th quarter. Oakdale was able to protect the ball and force Westminster to foul. The Bears connected on enough free throws to secure the win.

The next game will be on Thursday Night against Seneca Valley (away game).

OHS vs Damascus (PLAYOFFS)

Last night the Oakdale Bears played in their 1st playoff game of the season. It was the QuarterFinals match up between OHS and Damascus HS, which took place at the Bear Den. The Oakdale student section was packed and the Bears were ready to begin their playoff journey. During the 1st quarter both teams traded baskets but the Bears were ahead 18-13 at the end of the quarter. The Bears played tough defense in the 2nd quarter and began to make a run. The Bears outscored the Hornets 29-6. It was a total TEAM effort, in the 2nd quarter alone 7 Bears scored. The Bears continued to dominate in the 2nd quarter and all Bears saw playing time. #veryproud #gobears  FINAL: Oakdale 87- Damascus 50

OHS vs Tuscarora (CMC Championship Game)

Tonight the Bears were competing in the CMC Championship game at Hood College against Tuscarora High School. The gym was packed with fans from both sides. There were also lots of fans from the Frederick community that came to watch an action packed game. At the beginning of the game, defense was tight with both teams going back and forth a few times without scoring. The Bears hit 3 three pointers which gave them a spark. Oakdale took the lead, outscoring the Titans 17-9 in the 1st quarter. The 2nd quarter was a battle back and forth defensively and offensively, with the Titans outscoring the Bears by 2 in the 2nd. The Bears were up by 6 at half and came out strong in the 3rd outscoring the Titans 17-7. Tuscarora played very aggressive at the beginning of the 4th forcing several turnovers and scoring off of them. At one point the Titans went on a 12-0 run. The Bears remained tough and played hard to the end, coming out with the victory. This gives the Oakdale Boys Basketball program it's 4th conference championship in 5 years.

PLAYOFF GAME: The next game is scheduled for Friday night at home. It will be a doubleheader. The OHS girls will play at 5:30 PM and the Boys will play at 7:00 PM against Damascus High School.

OHS vs Northwest

The Bears were on the road tonight, visiting Northwest High School. During the first quarter the Bears played hard defensive and scored a school record of 31 points in the 1st. During the 2nd the Bears again outscored NW 27-10. All Bears saw playing time. Both teams played hard in the 2nd half but the Bears defeated NW 97- 61. This game was the last regular season game for the Bears.
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday at Hood College where Oakdale will compete with Tuscarora for the Conference Championship.

OHS vs Urbana

2017 SENIOR NIGHT
This evening the Bears were hosting Urbana High School. Tonight was Senior Night as the Bears honored it's 7 seniors.(Eli, Cory, Sean, Seamus, Brad, Brendan, Nigel) The game started off slow on the offensive end with  neither team scoring in the first couple of minutes.  Both teams got hot towards the end of the 1st quarter with the score tied at the end of the 1st. (14-14). The second quarter went back and forth with the Bears holding a 3 point halftime lead. The Bears jumped on the Hawks in the third quarter outscoring them 15-8, to take a 10 point lead going into the 4th quarter. Both teams shot a lot of free throws in the 4th quarter. The Bears out scored the Hawks 26-22 in the fourth giving them a 74-58 victory.
The next game is scheduled for Wednesday at Northwest High School.

OHS vs Tuscarora

Tonight the Bears faced the Titans for 1st place in the Central Maryland Conference. The gym was packed with fans and they were treated to one of the best games that gym has ever seen. The Bears struggled to make a shot in the 1st quarter, but played hard throughout. The Titans held a 13-4 lead after the 1st quarter. In the second quarter, the Bears offense picked up and continued tough defensive play to cut the Tuscarora lead to 2 points at halftime. The 3rd quarter saw the Bears explode offensively scoring 22  points in that quarter, to take a 6 point lead going into the 4th.  The 4th quarter went back and forth with both teams trading baskets, however Oakdale went on an exciting 8-0 run that made the crowd erupt. The Bears clinched the victory and share 1st place in the conference.

A tremendous S/O to our Oakdale Students/Oakdaliens for their HUGE support at the game. The gym was so loud the WFMD guys had a hard time talking and seeing the game. Thank you also to our OHS community and parents for packing the gym. Thank you!!

OHS vs South Hagerstown

On Wednesday night the Bears traveled to South Hagerstown. The Bears played hard coming off a tough win at Frederick on Tuesday night. Oakdale had a hot start shooting the ball in the 1st quarter taking a 25-13 lead. In the 2nd quarter the Rebels chipped away at the Bears lead and cut it to 8 point lead at half. In the 3rd quarter the Bears played very well both offensively and defensively and extended from 8 to 17 points. Both traded baskets in the 4th quarter as the Bears held on for the victory. OHS vs Frederick

The Bears were on the road tonight at Frederick High School. There wasn't a big crowd since it was a Tuesday night. The Bears started off very aggressive forcing a few turnovers in the first 2 minutes of play. At the end of the 1st quarter the Bears were leading 15-9. A tough Frederick team fought their way back in the 2nd quarter to tie the score at halftime 27-27. The 3rd quarter saw several lead changes, however the Bears were able to secure the lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. Great free throw shooting in the 4th quarter gave the Bears enough cushion to seal the victory. For the game, the Bears shot 21 for 25 from the free throw line. That made the difference in the game.
